Emberfall Saga
★★★★☆ 4.3
Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG that respects that you're playing on a phone. Battles are turn-based, so nothing punishes you for a dropped connection or a sudden bus stop. You build a party of four, mix roles, and the class synergies get interesting once you're past the tutorial hump.
The writing is better than it needs to be. Side characters have their own little arcs, and I found myself reading dialogue I'd normally skip. Menus are the weak spot — inventory management gets fiddly late-game — but the combat and pacing carry it.
On battery it's heavier than a casual game, as you'd expect, so I'd keep sessions to thirty or forty minutes on the go. Controls are all tap-based and never ask for precision timing, which fits the platform well.
What we liked
- Turn-based combat that pauses with real life
- Character writing worth reading
- No twitch reflexes needed
